Three labels – VIVI ZUBEDI, Coreta Louise and Suedeson – featured in an Indonesian Diversity collective show at New York Fashion Week. They injected their collections with patterns and vibrant colors, and it was a pleasure to view and learn about what fashions may appeal to a different demographic.
Prints and primary colors – in a variety of combinations – played largely into Coreta Louise’s Spring 2019 collection. Geometric, batik and floral prints appeared on a short red coat and a wrap jacket. A mustard jacket was delicately embroidered with flowers and paired with an unusual A-line skirt with a curvy cut out lace pattern trimming the hem. The same curvy cut repeated itself in a variety of patterns on the bodice of a green, pleated baby doll dress and a dramatic evening coat.
A dramatic evening cape adorned with swirling blue, white, scarlet, and black patterns accompanied an elegant blue, beaded, metallic skirt trimmed in red and white with subtle beading. In contrast, a Sabrina-like bubble gum, pink dress pranced down the runway, off-the-shoulder with a bow and a wide, a-line skirt. An emerald green off-the-shoulder top with a large green bow accompanied a yellow and orange batik-print sarong skirt.
