Spring/Summer 2017 collection title: “Wings of ICARUS”
Our take: Doubling as an art studio, the fashion label VLEEDA constructed a mixed media sculpture titled Wings of ICARUS that served as the inspiration for its Spring/Summer 2017 women’s collection. While the sculpture itself is mostly white and cream-colored – its depiction of melting wax recreating the tragedy of the Greek mythological figure – the clothes stay away from dark territory and instead embrace color. Scarves, dresses, blouses and loose pants take on a more varied palette, bringing in pastels, floral prints and sequins in a few select pieces. What the art and the fashion do have in common is the representation of the fluidity and movement, the latter serving as a more optimistic look towards the warmer months.
