Fall/Winter 2016 collection title: “Unisphere”
Our take: It didn’t take long to figure out the inspiration for the latest Q DESIGN AND PLAY Design line – the duo creates separate collections under its Basic line – with visual and written references to the 1964 New York World’s Fair, notably the Unisphere in Flushing that can be seen from many vantage points in the borough of Queens. Although the designers stated that they referenced stylings from that decade, their Fall 2016 menswear had a more modernized streetwear feel to it, mixing in baby blue and gold in addition to the colors typically expected from this time of year. Amusingly – or perhaps deliberately? – the word “Unisphere” was misspelled on several pieces.
