The menswear label 87MM is headed by models-turned-designers Kim Won Joong (김원중) and Park Ji Woon (박지운). Their Fall 2016 collection, titled “Mending Me,” featured neutral tones as evidenced in the show’s models wearing solid-colored fur coats backstage.
As it turned out, these faux fur coats comprised the entire final walk of the actual 87MM Fall 2016 runway show. According to an interview and recap published by Seoul Fashion Week, last season Kim and Park decided to make zigzag patterns the defining feature of their label in order “to create various combinations, variations and crashes.” For the fur coats in particular, the zigzags had another meaning: a subtle, continuous usage of the acronym “MM,” an abbreviation of the title of their collection and perhaps also a nod to the label.
87MM designs are sold in Seoul and Busan, and through the label’s online shop at 87mm.co.kr.
