Oversized exaggeration and silhouette-hugging structure combined for a striking Byungmun Seo Fall 2015 collection at Seoul Fashion Week. Designer Seo Byungmun’s preference for the color black prevailed in both his menswear and womenswear. However, rather then retreat to minimalism, he relied on imperfect details referring to his stated inspiration of “glitch art.”
While that phrase proved to be a bit more conservative in reality, its execution was effective. A portion of it relied on Seo’s collaboration with Austrian contemporary artist Aldo Tolino, whose folded graphics featured prominently on several long-sleeved shirts. Seo’s own interpretive details included a consistent visual cue of slanted lines favored during his past seasons: zippers on leather jackets, full-length openings on button-down shirts, and hems.
