Satya Jewelry opened its New York City flagship – its third in Manhattan along with a London boutique – amid much festive cheer. Catered hors d’oeuvres, Aveda hand massages and tarot card readings could have distracted from the proceedings, but the jewelry managed to grab the spotlight, thanks to the launch of the brand’s Holiday 2013 collection and extended hours of its new shop at the Time Warner Center.
Co-founders Satya Scainetti and Beth Torstrick Ward featured a wide array of pieces with two signature inspirations in mind: the serenity of yoga and the meanings behind precious gemstones, notably birthstones. Colorful multi-strand bracelets, chunky gold cuffs adorned with sunbursts, and necklaces featuring symbols such as the Hindu “om” character were just a few of the many offerings on display and for sale. Those who prefer more minimalist accessories can spring for pieces made entirely of silver or 18K gold. With price points ranging from just $12 to about $1,100, women (and men) have quite a selection of gifts to choose from for the holidays – that is, if they don’t change their minds and wear them on the party circuit this season instead.
