The inspiration for the Zin Kato Spring 2014 women’s collection in Tokyo was the Bible verse Luke 2:14. The full text from the program notes appears below:
[Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on the earth peace]
“68 years have passed since the war came to a close…our postwar years have brought with it an era of peace and an environment conducive to fashions [sic] prosperity. Without the good relationships established with our neighboring countries, fashion – and more generally a market economy – would have never blossomed. Within fashion design exists a genre known as military fashion, which borrows its ideas from army uniforms. For this collection, ‘Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on the earth peace, goodwill toward men’ (Luke 2:14), ZIN KATO takes an antipodal stance and instead delivers what it believes to be anti-militarism fashion.”
