Colorful paintings depicting American football players dotted Lincoln Center’s Box space, the site of Katya Leonovich’s Spring 2012 collection. That made sense, given that her presentation coincided with the first day of NFL regular season. What didn’t make sense were the accompanying men’s and women’s clothes, which resembled a combination of the Jetsons’ evil in-laws and psychedelic moth-eaten tablecloths. If they were meant to depict the aftermath of uniforms following multiple tackles in a football game, it was a tenuous reference at best.
