After three solid but unspectacular days of shows at the Lincoln Center tents, someone had to save the day at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week collections. Not surprisingly, British designer Jenny Packham delivered the honors bright and early at 9 a.m. on a Monday morning. Equally bright? The proliferation of sequins and beads, the floral prints and the lightly-colored silk chiffon flowing down the runway. Always incorporating a heavy use of accents yet managing to translate these adornments into lightness, Packham also effectively used Grecian draping in several evening gowns.
