John Rocha’s Fall 2011 collection is a testament to the creative edginess indicative of the London Fashion Week runways. Indeed, an eclectic number of inspirations influenced the Dublin-based designer: Iceland, Neil Young and the artist Pierre Soulages. Using a wide variety of materials – lambskin, mohair, angora, ponyskin, wool, lace – Rocha constructed an incredible assortment of men’s and women’s looks for autumn. Cream-colored dress coats were offset by touches such as asymmetric hems and twisted knits, bringing a fresh look to the standard outerwear typically seen during this time of year. The same held true for the dresses, some of which featured layers of tiered fabric. Hats, topped with fantastic piles of yarn, were held together with tight black elastic bands; similar accents were used in the clothing itself.
