To the tune of Bebel Gilberto’s haunting cover of “We Don’t Need No Education” by Pink Floyd, Brazilian designer Carlos Miele unveiled his stunning Spring 2011 women’s collection. Grammy-nominated Gilberto wore a Miele-designed white mini dress with a colorful butterfly print, a recurring theme throughout the collection along with a sea of light shades that included lime, off-white, orange and gold. Miele’s signature intricate details were evident across the board, such as green ruched details across the bodice of a short off-white dress; silver and gold embroidery; and thick stringed fabric draped or criss-crossed along the front sides of several dresses. Miele switched palettes in the end with six daring black evening gowns, combining silk organza with sheer fabric and black tulle.
