Not for the diabetic or faint of heart, Godiva Chocolatier presented the SWEET event at the Food Network New York City Wine & Food Festival on Oct. 10, 2009. More than 50 restaurants and companies fed desserts to patrons at la.venue during a three-hour late evening event of serious saccharine overload. Standouts included Sweetiepie Restaurant Chef Humberto Guallpa’s miniature tiered Trio Micro Cakes served in flavors of chocolate, lemon and orange; the always stellar Billy’s Cupcakes; and wedding cake Chef Ron Ben-Israel’s banana cake with spiced rum, caramelized pineapple and coconut buttercream, and toasted coconut.
