It will be a joyous summer thanks to Max Azria’s BCBGMAXAZRIA Spring/Summer 2010 collection, which successfully defined the designer’s vision of “chic sensibility and a modern edge.” Azria showed more than 30 colorful dresses and gowns constructed mostly in jersey, silk crepe and satin georgette. Unlike his several previous collections, Azria’s current presentation incorporated a lot of color blocking and abstract, splatter-like prints in bright colors – refreshing choices for the spring season.
One of Azria’s strong design consistencies showing through most of his collections – including this one – is his fondness of asymmetric clothing and their relation to the feminine silhouette. This season’s contours and proportions incorporated fabric draping, layering, some handkerchief hemming and a bit of playful ruching. While T-shirt jersey dresses and gowns gave off a carefree vibe with a touch of sophistication, the looks were completed with silver or gold metal tassel clutches, and black or grey platform sandals.
