The main activity at New York Fashion Week swirls around the tents at Bryant Park. However, there is only so much room for all that energy in an “indoor” space constructed solely for the week of festivities. Most of this edition of “The Scene at the Tents” takes you outside of the epicenter, although not the storm itself.
There she is…: The ubiquitous Mischa Barton attended the Nanette Lepore show. The former “O.C.” actress also went to Marc Jacobs and Marchesa, among other events – this after Meniscus saw her at the Jenni Kayne show over the weekend. (Speaking of the weekend, “Lost” actress Michelle Rodriguez was spotted outside The Metropolitan Pavilion after the Jeanisis by Anand Jon show on Sept. 9. She was scheduled to co-host an after-party with the designer that evening.)
In the blink of an eye: A little bird at Parea – a Greek restaurant in Manhattan that has provided Fashion Week scribes a delicious salad sampling with feta and tomatoes – recounted a brief Paris Hilton sighting at the restaurant on the evening of Sept. 11. The restaurant was hosting a party, at which the hotel heiress downed “a lot of tequila shots” before moving on.
Those rose-colored glasses are killing my vision: Victoria’s Secret constructed a store to celebrate its newest addition to the Pink Collection, Phi Beta Pink. An evening charity function – more along the lines of a keg party for adults – introduced attendees to the feminine, collegiate clothing line in the setting of an overgrown sorority house. The color pink was everywhere, from the faux bedrooms with various themes (the athlete, the rocker girl and so on) to the clothes themselves, which were a fresh take on typical university-themed gear. One room even had a framed, autographed headshot of Rob Lowe, who wrote that “his wife looks great in Pink.”
