Linden Place, Flushing, N.Y. – Fifteen photographers entered a competition for the Miss New York Chinese Beauty Pageant. They took photos of the 14 contestants in evening wear and modernized cheongsam. The photographers were split into two groups, meaning that the contestants had to pose for multiple individual shoots. Each photographer was given a two-minute time limit for each contestant, who changed poses in a contest quite similar to the shoots seen on the “America’s Next Top Model” television show.
The winning photographer will be announced just prior to the Aug. 12 pageant. Eric Yuen, the pageant’s executive director, noted that until then, the members of the public can vote for their favorite contestant in the Miss Chinese Internet Popularity Poll. The contestant who collects the most votes wins that title.
