The arctic freeze that chilled the Big Apple during New York Fashion Week may have staved off the majority of the Hollywood establishment, but there were still plenty of goings-on at the Bryant Park tents.
Spotted: Kelly Hu, Donald Trump Jr., and Vanessa Trump at BCBG Max Azria; Julianne Moore at Lacoste; Sherri Saum at Vivienne Tam; Michelle Williams of Destiny’s Child at Vivienne Tam and Evisu; Carson Kressley at Lacoste and Evisu (he wore a black t-shirt at the latter that read, ‘Sorry girls, I only date models’); Carmen Electra and Russell Simmons at Anna Sui; and rocker daughter Alexandra Richards before Zac Posen. Seen before the Diane von Furstenberg show: Anderson Cooper, Charlie Rose, Tim Gunn of “Project Runway,” Kelly Rowland of Destiny’s Child, Veronica Webb.
Heatherette chaos: A number of aspiring spectators were relegated to the steps, where many sat or stood, waiting to get in. The problem? It was past the scheduled start time of 9 p.m. on a Tuesday evening, the temperature was dropping, and members of the press weren’t even allowed inside to run errands unless they possessed an actual invitation. A follow-up account the next day included a story of someone who had an assigned seat, but never got to it because the building was evacuated in anticipation of the mob clamoring to get into the show.
Twinkle, Twinkle: Twinkle designer Wenlan Chia signed copies of her new book, Twinkle’s Big City Knits, an appropriate title to an event held at the VIP Moet and Chandon Champagne lounge at the tents. The book includes how-to’s on knitting fashionable clothes and accessories.
Proof that there are more similarities between the Westminster Dog Show and Fashion Week than previously thought: A pooch named Sigmund Freud stole the show during the weekend…when spectators noticed him. With angelic behavior that could rival his Best in Show peers, the mutt didn’t even utter a single bark as he was escorted to a full slate of shows.
