Currently a student at the University of California, Berkeley, Lily Zhang is the first American to medal at an international Olympic-level event (a bronze in singles at the Nanjing 2014 Youth Olympic Games) and part of the first North American team to win a world junior medal (the U.S. girls won the bronze at the 2014 World Junior Table Tennis Championships). Zhang’s junior world teammates – Angela Guan, Crystal Wang and Prachi Jha – all competed at the 2015 Canadian Junior & Cadet Open earlier in the week, won by Guan.
