Verizon Center, Washington, D.C., May 24, 2014 – Neither the home nor the visiting team played well in the Washington Mystics’ second regular season game, a 73-65 loss to the Seattle Storm (1-3). This was one of those games that you can chalk up to experience; the team with more usually shows up in the second half. In this case, the Storm – with an average of 6.7 years of experience per player – outscored the Mystics (1-2), with 3.3 years of experience, recording 49 points to Washington’s 39.
On a positive note, the fact that Mystics Coach Mike Thibault was willing to play the lesser experienced players indicates his plans to mold them into a cohesive unit – pointing to what could be a promising 2014 WNBA season for Washington.
