If one pondered why the Lincoln Center tents suddenly emptied out on a bright Tuesday afternoon, that was because the New York Fashion Week party had moved on to the St. Regis Hotel. Ivana Trump and Tommy Hilfiger were just a couple of the guests feting Dennis Basso, who took his 1960’s French resort-inspired eveningwear off the runway and into a much more personal setting.
Fur, of course, accented Basso’s elegant dresses but refreshingly played second fiddle to beautifully soft shades of yellow, champagne and gold. Short cropped trench jackets paired with ball gowns, fringe combined with embroidery, and ostrich feathers comprised just a few of the surprising details in what was easily one of the best women’s eveningwear collections of the season. Bravo et felicitations, Monsieur Basso.
