New York Fashion Week Fall 2007

Elie Tahari at New York Fashion Week

by Yuan-Kwan Chan

Opting for mannequins over models, Elie Tahari opened his midtown Manhattan showroom for a presentation just prior to the Bryant Park rush. His Fall 2007 men’s and women’s collections - the latter being the stronger of the two - featured sophisticated numbers in warm beige, chocolate and maple tones. Some pieces, such as his cropped jackets, skirts and pants, were equally suitable as business wear and as fare for a night out on the town, while his understated eveningwear were elegant pieces for a cocktail soiree. Of particular note were Tahari’s short dresses paired with dark leggings and fur hats in an all-grown-up version of a current youthful trend. To top it off, Tahari included an assortment of handbags, boots and shoes that simultaneously stood out yet complemented various looks.
